Did you know that most grocery stores get their in-house sort packaged foods (aka private label foods) from the SAME manufacturers as the big name qualitys? While we see Kroger’s Private Selection ice-creams sitting next to Haagen Dazs in the freezer, we may not think twice, but there is a revolution going on. You see, we are getting a quality product for a lower price just considering it is an in-house grade (which we will refer to here on as “private label”). What does that mean for us and what’s the connection to your home business? Hang in there with me and read on…
First, let me simply define private label. Putting your own sort on someone else’s manufactured product is called private label. Private labeling is not just limited to foods; it is found in all industries – beauty products, wine and spirits, clothing and more.
This is a great option for entrepreneurs wanting to start their own home business. Let me list the advantages…
1. Product Variety
There are a multitude of products to choose from depending on your budget, resources, research findings and creativity. See what industry and product suits you best based on these.
2. Manufacturers For Every Budget
There are hundreds of manufacturers who can supply you with product they have in stock, or even custom formulate a product for you. Again, choosing one depends on your budget, their minimums, proximity, etc. Trust me, there is a manufacturer for every possible product out there. whether you have trouble locating one in your price range, try sourcing it through someone or looking for a manufacturer directory.
3. Creating & Controlling Your Brand
Once you choose your product, it’s duration to start dreaming up the make. What do you want your grade and product to stand for? What are your future goals with product creation? Based on the niche market you are targeting, start talking to your graphic designer about what appeals to your niche market. Remember, you get to control stock and type image. whether you choose to sell your products online, you can develop on-line offers that are based on special times of the year. whether you choose to sell them through boutiques and stores, you can talk to the buyer and manager about how to properly merchandise (or display) the product. Your grade, your way!
4. Control Your Own Pricing
You can additionally control pricing considering private label manufacturers do not set price barriers. that is solely your decision.
5. The Need
Most importantly, society are wanting more options these days. humans are seeking better products. In beauty, citizens are seeking products that are truly natural and have mainly raw ingredients. In foods, society are seeking products that have less preservatives, no trans fat, more natural ingredients etc. The list goes on.
So what are you waiting for? Start researching for products and needs you can fill. Read here for more private labeling FAQ.
